Chatel and Avoriaz - weekend 15th & 16th December 2007
Last weekend and into the beginning of the week, snow fell
heavily over the area, giving fantastic cover for the time
of year. Resorts are quoting well over a metre of snow on
upper slopes.
Skiing and boarding conditions are superb at the moment.
Temperatures were about -10°C in the car park as lifts
opened, and only warmed up a little during the day. On-piste
is excellent packed powder whilst off-piste is powdery bliss.
If this was still last season, everyone would be describing
this as the best weekend of the season! Lift queues are non-existent
and it was sunny all weekend - though we were looking down
onto cloud in the valleys below.
